As Field Hands we are the workers out in the field! That means that you should be comfortable in all kinds of weather. As the season progresses we experience, cold temperatures, direct sunshine, heat, wind, and rain. ☀️🌧️🌬️❄️

Our main jobs are planting, weeding, and harvesting. To accomplish these, we move our bodies… a lot! You should be comfortable with walking, standing, kneeling, squatting, bending for extended periods. 🌱🫑🧅🧄🥕🧑‍🌾

Bulk produce can be heavy, when we can we partner lift a heavy item, but you should be comfortable with lifting and maneuvering heavy things. 💪

While out in the field there’s moments when we find ourselves working on an independent task or communally. It’s important that you’re comfortable staying on task and following directions. ☑️

We are grateful for our Rhubarb, every year we are We are grateful for our Rhubarb, every year we are in awe of her beauty. Our patches are next to our lunch room so we get to witness their lushness everyday. Back in 2020, we received cuttings from Hannah’s Aunt Cathy’s plants, you can see in the pictures how bountiful they were even just one year after transplanting. This year we transplanted 2 rows of Rhubarb to the field. This means next year we will have even more Rhubarb to go around. We transplanted our cuttings with love and care and are excited to have more perennial plants taking up real estate in our fields this year.

We are in the thick of Rhubarb Season, if you’d like some we will be at Elmwood Bidwell Farmers Market and Williamsville Farmers Market Saturdays 8am-1pm

See you there

We sent our good boy Rue to the processor. He was We sent our good boy Rue to the processor. He was 8 years old, we got him as a day old calf and raised him on the old farm when we had all Jerseys. He was a beautiful calf with purple hues in his coat, growing into a beautiful dark brown Jersey cow. He quickly became a favorite with his sweet and gentle nature. He was a smart cow and over the years found himself in some mischief, the time he got out and was found eating wild apples. He began slowing down last year on pasture and more noticeably this winter in the barn. It became apparent it was his time and were grateful to have known him.

He will be missed in our barn and on our pastures.
