Happy Valentines Day!  Orders are due Monday February 16 for a delivery on February 18, this coming Wednesday.  We just brought home meat from the butcher and are fully restocked.  We also have bakery options and other things available.  We recently restocked on honey, for your honey.

Finally a few above average temperature days.  We were able to clean the barn and get caught up on a few things that you just can't do when the temperatures are so cold.

Seed orders are mostly in and needed to be organized.  We will start some onions, celery and herbs in a couple weeks.

We had a long overdue staff meeting this week and talked about safety and security.  We talked about camera placement and how we plan on proceeding with food safety requirements on secure facilities.  By this summer we hope to have a secure perimeter fence and farm gate.  This will also help to keep any escaping animals from getting to the road.  

My winter has been spent working on our new farm store and kitchen.  The Heritage Kitchen at Plato Dale Farm will be open this coming spring.  We hope to start moving in equipment and getting hoods and ovens installed after our vacation.  I recently finished up the front door and siding on our front entrance.

Our online application for work is posted.  If you or someone you know is interested in helping us out from May till November, please fill it out.  Positions are full time and part time farm help and Saturday market help is also needed.  We have a great crew, we work hard and have a lot of fun.  There is always good food and laughter all around us. Take some time this winter to plan out your summer routines that include plenty of food preservation and time in the outdoors.  Make a plan to come to Saturday farm markets and to make a trip to the farm if you can.  Come help us do some field work if that sounds like fun(we pay in food!). In the meantime, get a good book to read and find a comfy blanket.
