The Best Food From People Who Care

Newsletter 10/17/2024

Fall has arrived since our last newsletter.  We had a heavy frost this morning which will allow us to mow off our finished crops and continue to clean up the field.  As we finish field clean up, we spread manure that has been mixed and aged (composted) and plow that manure into the soil.

We have picked most of the peppers, eggplants, celery and other crops that will be finished by a frost.  These crops will be available for a couple weeks more.

Other crops will be fine through the frost and will continue to be harvested for a few weeks more.  These crops include greens, cabbages, broccoli, leeks and brussels sprouts(which are very slow this year).

We have set the date for our Fall Frolic.  We are looking forward to our celebration!  Tickets can be purchased at the link below.  Eric did a great job on the artwork for the poster!

Kent and Jenny went on our fall ADK getaway.  We relaxed, hiked, read, fished and of course ate very well.  We went to a great farmer's market in Saranac Lake and continued our quest to find the best cheese!

We have had Tyler and Miranda at Turn of the Century Signs working on a couple illustrations that we can use for marketing our pork and chicken.  We appreciate their great work and you will get to see it used soon.

We have had some great pictures of Northern Lights over the past week.  Some are truly stunning.

Our hearts go out to those who have endured and suffered through the hurricanes.  We are aware of several small farms who have lost everything, especially in North Carolina.  Please consider supporting them through this horrific time.

It is the time of year when we appreciate our summer help as they transition to their winter employment.  We have had a truly special group this year that has made our summer very enjoyable.  We hope we will see them back next year!

We planted garlic this week.  We put all of the remaining garlic in the ground so we are now out of garlic.

This coming week is last week for our CSA.  Half of our CSA southern routes ended this week.  We will have our new sign ups out soon.  With a deposit and a sign up for next year you will receive a holiday share.  We will have more on this coming soon.

Thanks for your support this year.  Kent and the crew!
