Newsletter July 26, 2024

Hello from the very busy season here at the farm.  We have had plentiful rain, sun, weeds and bugs.  The chicken processing is going ahead and will finish this coming week.  We should have chicken parts at market for awhile.  

The food safety inspection is being done this coming Tuesday and has taken all of our time and attention.  The good news is that the inspection will be done for the year and we will be cleaned up early in the season!

We are picking green beans for the first time this year.  Early peppers are making an appearance.  Beet harvest is finished this week and they are stored for the season.  Potatoes and sweetcorn may be limited on the market table this week.  Tomatoes look good, but need to redden up.

The kitchen is making breads, puffies and other seasonal goodies. Broth season is coming as we have collected bones, celery and onions.  Carrots are close.

We continue to try to keep our online farm shop up to date.  We are putting up electric for our farm stand and hope to have refrigeration for this fall.

Take some time to enjoy this fresh food season.  The main crop season is upon us.  Make some pickles, barbecue some beef, roast some sweet corn or make a wonderful  salad.  I love this time of year and encourage you to do the same!
