Our vegetable crops have grown well in the heat this week.  Today we had a nice shower and a cool down for this week.

Strawberries came to an abrupt end with the heat last week.  We hope to get cherries this week for fruit.  It is a tricky time of year and we have lost a couple of local farm suppliers.  Labor and higher costs are driving local farms out of certain crops.

We did the first big move of the cows to our front pastures.  This will give us an additional two week rotation which is so critical this time of year.  The heat and drier conditions start to limit pasture growth and we hope to have enough forage "stored" in the field for use during this part of the season.  We need to make it as close to September as possible for our last rotation to limit parasite load and to get the most from our pastures.

Chickens are growing at their peak rates over the next couple weeks.  They have access to their pastures and are out hunting and pecking this morning.  They will gain about a pound a week as we head toward processing season.  We should have fresh chicken in about 2 weeks.

Erin and Eric built out a new sheep house trailer that makes it much easier to rotate and move the sheep.  They love it and sleep in it every night.

This is Week A for our Home Delivery CSA.  We will be making home deliveries in the south towns and suburbs this week.

If there are any issues with the online store, please let us know.  You are our eyes and experiences.  We are still struggling a little to attend the details it takes to make it work all the time.

Please have orders in by tomorrow morning so we have time to put it together.
